DFA Film Lab: Isolation to Creation

Presented by Dance Films Association in partnership with the Guggenheim’s Works & Process and Gibney

"Join Dance Films Association for a conversation with filmmaker Nic Petry, of Dancing Camera, and Duke Dang, General Manager, Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim.

In this Dance Film Lab, led by DFA curator, Liz Wolff, we will explore this filmmaking endeavor capturing the Works & Process production of seven pioneering bubble residencies that took place in summer and fall of 2020 in the Hudson Valley."

At the end of their residencies, four artists groups - Ephrat Asherie Dance, Les Ballet Afrik, Music from the Sole, and The Missing Element - from the Works & Process bubbles created a film with Dancing Camera on the Lincoln Center Campus.

Works & Process Virtual Commissions

To financially support artists and nurture their creative process during the pandemic, Works & Process at the Guggenheim granted over $150,000 for artists to create new works while observing social distancing guidelines. Here are works created by the artists featured in "Isolation to Creation"
